I deserve to be a Scholar Essay Example for Free

I deserve to be a Scholar Essay To pass Education in UST is really an achievement for me. Before I took up the examination, I was so scared because, even though I am confident that I can manage to answer the exam, I am still afraid that I may not be able to have a slot because I am one of the applicants of the last batch. After passing the examination, I really regret that I failed to reserve my slot between the date I received the results up to the deadline of reservation. So, the moment the Dean of Education allowed me to have a late reservation for my slot in UST, I really felt absolute happiness and thanksgiving that finally, I am able to study on a decent and known school. Being asked by my classmates to teach them everytime they get trouble in studying makes me glad and pleasured. But you know what? There is a side that makes me confuse of choosing the course, Education. Why? Because many of my relatives, my father, and even the parents of my classmates said that Education doesn’t suit my intelligence. I deserve more. A higher degree and profession. They always recommend me medicine but well, I do like medicine and I really dreamt to be a doctor someday back to childhood days but its not the course I really prioritize right now. It’s not what do my heart and soul says. Maybe because I know that we cannot afford it and in reality, it takes too long to graduate. Moreover, I am finally decided to myself that I want to teach because I w as inspired by my late Mommy Joyce who is a LET passer and to my teachers that’s looks like enjoying the work they have. And in addition I really love teaching that’s why its final that I will focus in BS Education to be my course in College. It seems that teaching is a really nice profession and I imagine of going to a classroom full of students and be able to teach them and afterwards developed a professional one someday. To be offered such kind of scholarship makes me overwhelmed and confident of myself. It makes me think that I am so gifted to be given such glorious award. As I thought, I don’t need a scholarship because I am thinking that more people deserve this more than I do and I already credited my scholarship for being the Valedictorian so I am thinking that maybe, it’s already enough. But then, I realized that working abroad to earn a living for your two daughters and as well as aming for them to study in a good school is such a hard job for m y mom. So I was thinking that this opportunity might be a way to lessen the burden to my mom and to be given such additional scholarship would be a really big help for my college degree. Most of my mother’s childhood friends told me that my parents are really good in academics that’s why they think I inherited my intelligence form them. My mother also shared some of her memories and hardships she’d encountered and suffered when she was a student. She experienced being a laundrywoman to earn money for her to finish college and it was really hard for her not to eat sometimes just to save money for her projects and learning materials. According to her, there will be no success if you haven’t faced hardships at all. She always asked me to study hard for us not to have the same fate as hers. Because of her I am so persistent to study hard and finish my studies. I told myself that if I will be able to study without her financial support, it will be a big relief for her. Since my sister is studying as an Engineer at Mapua, she said that if I push studying in UST, her salary won’t be enough to sustain both of us as well as the expenses in our house and daily living. I cannot ask for my father’s help either cause he already have a new family and what he can get from his job is just enough for them. I believe that sholarships are granted for those students who has a potential and I am confident that I am one of tho se because back in highschool days, I have maintained a high and well good grades, participated in various organizations, active in school affairs, helpful to the teachers, loyal to my alma mater and even showed cooperation in my community. I always worry of having low grades and I really work hard in every little thing I do. I remember those nights that I am wide awake studying my lessons and reviewing for examinations. I am also a consistent honor student of my school. When I was in highschool, I always wanted to be a part of those programs and contests. Among my classmates, I am usually the one sent by my school as a representative on some events and contests like quizbee. In fact, I was awarded to be the Most Active of my class. I also received some special awards from our City Mayor for the completion of the days being an Imus Youth. I recite well during class hours and I even tutor my classmates before finals. With those moments and achievement I had in my highschool days, I a m proudly saying that I deserve to have this scholarship and I know that my characteristics made me a competitive applicant for this. That’s why, if blessed, I want to have this scholarship for I know that I am responsible enough, committed to my studies and my aims and goals in life would always bring me to success because I wholeheartedly waste my full and best effort in doing everything to achieve what I want. I never surrender and stop until I get what I want and I always do my best just to maintain high and good grades. Through this scholarship, I would be able to achieve my dream of becoming a professional teacher someday that’s why I will do everything so that I will not lose this scholarship. Most of all, whith the confidence and determination I have as a student, I believe that granting me this award won’t be a waste at all.

The importance of learning Essay Example for Free

The importance of learning Essay The importance of learning is not caged around the four corners of a classroom. Surely we do not want to be the stereotype of an out-of-touch scholar, at home among abstractions but bewildered by the mention of reality. Or the student, who, after four-five years of studying in a university, asks, â€Å"Where’s the clinic? † With the hardships that a student experiences (poverty, isolation in study, underworked muscles, deadlines, and projects), there must be an outlet in which he could forget and enjoy, at least temporarily. Joining an organization that offers learning through recreation and other extra-curricular activities could be an effective outlet. Extra-curricular activities like joining an organization would help you boost your confidence. In charismatic groups, they don’t just pray and praise. They sing, dance, read, go camping, and do lots of other stuff that involves fun. But many are not able to use their talents for the simple reason that they have not even discovered yet where and how to reveal them. An organization is the perfect place that could help you expose your talents. More so, it gives you a sense of belonging, a feeling that says, â€Å"Ah, so here’s the flock that I should fly with! † Fraternities and sororities can be an option, since they promise protection and support from brothers and sisters. Be careful to choose the right ones, though. Therefore, it is important that you do not restrict yourself in one corner. Move on to the larger scope of things. To develop fully as individual and become well rounded person, one must discover his or her potentials and share them to others. And what better way than to join extra-curricular activities! Of course, joining an organization or group entails the hardships in managing time and adjusting to a new group of people. But then, if you love the group you are in or are interested in improving yourself, all these problems could not possibly overshadow the fun and the lessons you’ll learn. The Student Accountancy Society is one of the busiest organizations in the University of Northern Illinois. Yet it is just amazing how these accounting students still manage to keep up with their studies, get remarkably high grades, and at the same time excel in different extra-curricular activities. â€Å"It is a matter of time management and setting priorities. It is difficult, because sometimes you have to sacrifice your studies if needed in the organization,† says the one member of the group. However, despite his hectic schedule, he sees to it that he catches up on whatever he would miss in his classes. It is no joke being in an organization because they have other things to do aside from their ordinary student life: accounting seminars, quiz bowls for different levels, tutorial sessions before major exams, outreach programs, book assistance and others. Since learning is not only achieved inside the four walls of the classroom some of our very own accounting students â€Å"go out to the world† and stand out bringing a good name to the school. But behind the glory and high reputation is the struggle of every accounting student to survive. He has no assurance until where and when he’d last in the â€Å"battle. † According to some professors however, IQ is not the only thing that matters in the working but EQ as well, and that the department aims to form the students holistically and not just academically; hence, students are enjoined to get involved in sports, public, speaking, and others. Accounting students often get the impression of being so much focused and are so serious that they do not have time for fun. Well, actually they do. They have this Meet the Intern Night that they hold once a year which is a in a way, encouraging Accounting freshmen to be part of the group. It is also the time when different levels show their talents and compete in different fields. At the forefront of the university is a student. No amount of forced hypnosis, teaching methodology or subtle encouragement could sway him in finding or nor finding any meaning to, say, a seminar with the internationally acclaimed with an internationally acclaimed speaker. He should be the one to look for motivation and self-esteem; he should be the one to impose volunteerism and creativity; he should be the one to regulate the daily dragging routine of a true leader who shuns leadership, opportunity, work and achievements. The students should be the ones to drum on their head s the importance of extra-curricular activities, the purpose of student body or the meaning of a student organization. Enterprise Project Management :: essays research papers

Successful organizations must manage resources and control the diverse range of projects operating within their systems at any one time. To be successful in the current business climate, organizations need to focus on how to manage the many competing requirements for resources. Conflicting resource requirements across multiple projects and corporate priorities not centrally managed usually are grounds for failure. I believe that a properly organized enterprise project office is the formula for successful project implementation. This paper briefly outlines what I feel is the main philosophy of the project office and two functions it can provide.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The main philosophy of the project office is to provide the organization with a single point of enterprise project planning and control. The project office supports all levels of management by monitoring all current projects in an integrated form. It stores all relevant data and disseminates information to all the various managers involved in all projects. It is the only office that has a global view of all the corporate projects and their history.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  One function the project office can provide is assistance with resource availability for the project managers and project teams. As resource requirements and assignments are submitted to the project office, that information can be entered into an enterprise project database. This gives the project office the ability to not only track resource allocations for a single project but also determine the assignments and constraints of resources throughout the organization. Without this big picture, project impacts caused by resource constraints are difficult to determine.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Another function the project office can provide is maintaining the “issues'; log. The project manager and possibly functional managers raise issues when changes to the project scope occur, or when changes and problems occur outside the control of the project management team. The project office collects this information and performs various “what if'; scenarios. They then can determine the impact on schedule, resource availability, and budget for that project and the organization as a whole.

Museum Assignment: Portrait Comparison Between the 17th and 19th Centur

The Flemish seventeenth century artist Peter Paul Reubens and the nineteen century French artist Jean Auguste Dominque Ingres had little in common besides their occupation, as both utilized very different styles in their art. Reubens’s work is classified under the Baroque style, a period between 1600 and 1750 as a contrast to the prior perfection of Renaissance art, whereas Ingres’s work is under Neoclassicism, which praised the Greek and Roman classics that inspired the Renaissance artists (Kleiner). Yet the two separate time periods and painting styles that influenced the painters also share small similarites, through visual quality and iconography. Reuben’s portrait of Susanna Fourment and Ingres’s portrait of Franà §oise Poncelle clearly belong to the specific artistic movements, but some aspects of painting remain timeless, with each artist drawing inspiration from prior work. Peter Paul Reubens’s paintings were heavily influenced by his studio’s location in Antwerp. The city’s banking industry led to an emphasis upon works that a family could purchase, often within the upper middle class instead of the immensely wealthy. This emphasis allotted more time to be put into portraiture, in place of the large scale church altarpieces or palace paintings, which could be displayed in the family’s homes with more modesty. The Baroque period, a term that comes from the Portugese word â€Å"barroco†, or â€Å"irregularly shaped pearl† (Kleiner), is known for its bright colors, emphasis on reality’s relationship to fantasy, theatric quality, and dramatics. Many of Reubens’s paintings are allegorical, colorful, and inspired by numerous artists of the past as well as his current time. After the Renaissance period, artists took the classically influ... ... This painting style emphasized natural human form instead of Smooth finishes replaced thick swirls or dabs of paint to accurately convey the human form, which is shown explicitly in Ingres’s portrait. Although both pieces are portraits, each portrays the subject in differing manners. The harsh lines and blurred strokes convey a mysterious attachment to Reuben’s portrait, whereas the defined lines and photographic detail within Ingres’s portrait attach a formal connotation. The demand for home based patronage spread from Antwerp in the late sixteen hundreds into the early eighteen hundreds in France, yet what makes a portrait truly exemplary moved with the time shift. Each work reflects the time period while continuing to explore parallels between various artistic styles as well as movements, connecting artists together through their differences and similarities.

Civil rights in philosophy

Civil rights in philosophy essay 10 BY BillBBowers Fighting For Rights and Justice: Civil Disobedience Summary With Mill's argument for a limited or possibility for no government and then Hobbe's view that society and men where selfish and needed a sovereign offer to get along, brings us to the work of Henry David Thoreau. Thoreau is famous for his isolation of society and his work Walden, he seen this approach of no government and see's selfish man kind to, so his is an mixed theory.Thoreau knew that living in ociety was important, but didn't think that the government should have such a say into ones personal life. Thoreau writes, â€Å"Must the citizen ever for a moment, or in the last degree, resign his conscience to the legislator? Why has every man a conscience, then? † He thought that the Just laws and government should be more important, similar to the same concepts ofa later famous philosopher, Martin Luther King. King took this same thought process when he protested a nd fought for rights and Justice in a civil disobedience way ObjectionsMill's argument for a limited government does't seem that intelligible or reliable to me; I personally don't think that would work at all. I would agree more with Hobbes's view that men are selfish and need some kind of sovereignty for an overall peaceful environment. However, a someone mix between the two like Thoreau tried to do would be beneficial, but I don't see mankind willing to change and accepts new ways of government, especially not one so extreme. It's a good concept, but like most say, â€Å"you can't teach a old dog new tricks!Definition Philosophy is a such a broad and complex field that its offended hard to give a basic, simple definition. In a quick course, we've learned that Philosophy deals with subjects like religion, knowledge, reality, self, mind, body, freedom, ethics, and Justice. Each subject builds on top of the other, from religion we get our beliefs about how we got here and why. Which moves to our knowledge of why we learn, our brains and the way we learn over processes. Then we go into our reality in which we touch ack on knowledge and religion of what we really know and can prove, and why we are here. This moves back into a broad subject of the self, like who we really are why we think and learn different and our mind-body controversies. Fromm there we learn that our freedom is important and move into modern philosophy problems like ethics and, recently read, Justice. These are modern problems of how we rule, whats affective, whats not, how people want to be treated and ruled. These are important to philosophy as a while because we cant really say what the right answer is.

Final decision and ConclusionHasbro inc is 2nd largest toy makers in United States which has a multi-billion industry showing it has a huge market and demands for its products and services. Their commitments to make and introduce new more exiting products will bring more attention to its stock. Hasbro stock deals with debt and has less than prima 2009. (Data monitor, 2009) I would definitely make an investment in the company, as the industry where it operates is recession resistant. Celebration for the children’s will be going in spite of the downfall in the economy and the great festivals will always be celebrated throughout the year. The demand of the company will never go to nil. Moreover, Hasbro has most suitable and steady dividends in the market. Hasbro currently has a dividend yield of 2. 65 percent . This may not seem to be making any huge difference . but 2. 65 percent compounding quarterly for life will make the portfolio rich. Hasbro has one of the best stocks to in the market so I can take the step to invest as far as growth is pertained. In other words, if you make bigger deal in Hasbro hoping for real growth, the worst outcome that can shape up is that you will have one of the world's best dividend stocks. Moreover, Hasbro may be equilibrated for growth as well. Hasbro is starting to gain revenue by signing profitable deals with Marvel and other entertainment companies . Marvel is yet another bigger company as well, and the deal, which took place between Marvel and Hasbro, will lead to greater rewards for both companies. Standard and Poor's, currently rates Hasbro stock with four stars pointing that and considers it is a good stock to purchase at this time. As far as the Question to work at Hasbro is concerned, I would like to join to the position fitting to my profile. The Reason is as follows: 1. Hasbro has healthy and safety working environments with good facilities and amenities. 2. The working hours and compensation are best in the industry. 3. Hasbro maintains a commitment in sound environmental programmers and various practices. However , the company shall make strict rules for discrimination and subject to abuse, cruel or unusual disciplinary practices. It shall respect its employees and treat with dignity . The various employee’s benefits programmed should be introduced to make a better and cultured working environment with best cod es of conducts.A good working environment with lucrative stock prices always attracts shareholders and people to render their best services.REFERENCES Casey, B. Movie Scenes Occurred When The Police Officer Spoke With...

The greatest impact from movie scenes occurred when the police officer spoke with Shaniqua Johnson, an insurance agency supervisor, about his father’s health and the conversation escalated. At first glance, the officer is a bigot who is racist against minorities and blames Mrs. Johnson for his father’s misfortune. The officer bursts out with â€Å"I can’t look at you without thinking five or six more qualified white men who didn’t get the job.† The officer is using his prejudices against Mrs. Johnson as the insurance will not pay for another doctor to see his father for diagnosis. The officer explains how his prejudices came about in his childhood. His father owned a small business that employed minorities before laws were set of no discrimination and how after treating minorities like any other white person, the minorities were given more preferences in small business world and stole his business out from under his father. While his father h as no hard feelings on minorities, the officer has lived with racial discrimination since adolescence due to this event that caused his family to struggle. With this revelation, we see the inner workings of the cause behind his prejudices even though this does not justify racism. As Crash continues, we see the officer risk his life for the woman he earlier sexually assaulted during a routine stop. The officer does have his prejudices and beliefs, but he did save the life of a minority once in the position. This scene allows us
